Starting today, I have a new blog focused on my research. It can be found at Hearing All Voices.
This new work is based on the hypothesis that individuals' life stories provide detailed information and insight into a wide variety of personal and environmental issues. Peoples' stories can be mined to extract deeper understandings of these complex issues, as well as how people do (or do not) cope.
Narratives are a way for humankind to structure and explain their experiences - defining external influences, internal motivations, decisions, dependencies, causes and effects, and much more.
Infrastructure/tooling, ontologies and a simple graphical interface are being developed. The overall application ("Deep Narrative Analysis", DNA (tm)) utilizes, combines and adapts existing semantic, linguistic and machine-learning technologies. A wealth of background and linked data from the Internet can also be added. The goal is to allow complex analyses of narratives from many perspectives and utilizing many technologies and approaches.
